Budget 2020-21 | These Are the Salient Features of Budget 2020-21 (Summary)

The government has presented the next fiscal year budget with a total outlay of Rs. 7.29 trillion. Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar presented the budgetary proposals in the National Assembly on Friday. The Minister said that the gross revenue receipts have been estimated at Rs. 6573 billion. The FBR tax collection target has been set at Rs. 4963 billion while the non-tax revenue is estimated to be about Rs. 1610 billion. Under the NFC Award, 2874 billion rupees will be transferred to the provinces. The provincial share in federal taxes is estimated at Rs. 2873.7 billion. The net revenue receipts have been estimated at Rs. 3699.5 billion indicating an increase of 6.7 percent over the budget estimates of the outgoing fiscal year. The net capital receipts have been estimated at Rs. 1463.2 billion, which are 75.93 percent higher than the outgoing fiscal year. Budget 2020-21 | Govt allocates Rs 4.5bn for education

The federal government has allocated Rs 4,526.096 million under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for ongoing and new schemes of the Federal Education and Professional Training for the fiscal year 2020-21. According to the budget documents, a total of Rs 4,171.096 million has been earmarked allocated for ongoing schemes and Rs 355 million new schemes of the Education Ministry. Among the ongoing schemes, Rs 1,100 million has been allocated for the establishment of Directorate General of Religious Affairs (DGRE), Rs 200 million each for setting up Islamabad Model College for Boys G/13-2, and Islamabad College for Boys G-15, Rs 100 million for up-gradation of Islamabad Capital Territory high schools, and Rs 86.800 million for the establishment of National Curriculum Council (NCC) Secretariat. Budget 2020-21: Govt proposes Rs1.29tr for defence spending | Budget of defence

ISLAMABAD: The government on Friday proposed Rs1.29 trillion defence allocation for next fiscal year representing an 11.8 per cent increase over the original allocation for the outgoing year. Federal Minister for Industries Hammad Azhar, while presenting the budget in the National Assembly, said: “defence and internal security have been given adequate attention in the budget”. The military had last year forgone a major hike because of the economic challenges then facing the country and settled for a raise of 4.74 per cent, but by the end of the year it had overshot the allocation by 6.33 per cent. The original allocation for last year was Rs1.15 trillion, but according to revised figures presented before the lower house of parliament, about Rs1.23 trillion had been spent. It has now virtually become a norm for actual defence spending incurred in a year to be higher than the original allocation.
